How long does it take to build a porch?

23 October 2026 · 3 min read

Most porches take around one week on site once work begins. The time before that depends on whether your porch needs planning permission.

Before work starts

After the free site visit we confirm the design, check planning and send a written price. If the porch is permitted development, we can usually book it in straight away. If it needs planning permission, allow for the council decision period first.

A typical week on site

Days 1 to 2: groundworks, foundations and damp-proof course. Days 2 to 4: brickwork or frame. Days 4 to 5: roof structure and covering. Days 5 to 7: doors, glazing, any electrics, and finishing the floor and path.

What can slow things down

Heavy rain, drains or services in the way of the foundations, and long lead times on bespoke doors can add a few days. We tell you about any of these at the estimate stage.

Living at home during the build

You keep using your front door for most of the build. We keep the site tidy and safe each evening.
